Senic — The Long Game

Senic was founded in 2013 by three friends who grew up around hardware — families with workshops, with things that were built to last. They believed the smart home was heading in the wrong direction: too many apps, too many screens, too much asking for your attention. Physical controls, they thought, were not a step backward. They were the answer.

That conviction became Nuimo — a tactile controller for connected devices that won a Red Dot Award and shipped to thousands of homes around the world. Then COVI, a designer lamp that doubled as a smart home hub and speech interface — technology with a considered form, built to belong in a room rather than hide in a corner. Then an outdoor switch that earned a Red Dot of its own.

Along the way, Senic was acquired by ise, a building automation company with deep roots in KNX and connected environments. It was a validation, and also a test.

That chapter closed. What came next was a clean slate — a new entity, Senic Vertriebsgesellschaft, built from the ground up by two people who had learned what they wanted to make and, just as importantly, what they didn't.

Felix and Eoghan run Senic today. A designer and a strategist. The core is still physical controls — switches designed with the same conviction that started the whole thing. But the scope is wider now, reaching into new territory where that same philosophy applies: calm, considered hardware for the way people actually live.

Thirteen years in, Senic is smaller and more focused than it's ever been. The roadmap is specific. The opinions are strong. The belief that technology should stay in the background — that the best interface is one you forget you're using — hasn't changed at all.

That statement describes our vision as a company perfectly. We believe that technology should become omnipresent to support us with our creativity, relationships or relation but it should support us from the background. We believe in an enriched reality in which technology is embedded in simple objects and surfaces around us, and supports us from the background, with humans at its core.

Our Team

This is the vision that we share with hundreds of thousands of customers and with our team of passionate designers, engineers and marketers. We come from a diverse background of computer science, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering and design, and want to create simple and reliable products that anyone, independent of their age, or technical prowess, can use.

Our Partners

Building a hardware & software company cannot be done without partners. That’s why we consider these partners part of our team and cannot leave them unmentioned. We are grateful to be building SENIC together with amazing partners like Sonos, Philips Hue and Gira.

In order to turn our ideas into reality, we manufacture most of our products in Germany and interact very closely with our manufacturing partners, constantly collaborating on how to improve production and quality. 

The result are products that are loved by many and have multiple awards like 3 red dot design awards and the German Design Awad. We also care a lot about sustainability. This is why we’ve moved away from printed manuals towards a purely digital experience and manufacture our packaging from grass which is bio degradable.
