In general, all services that offer a ‘link’ work with Muse Blocks. We’re doing a lot of testing and are building software improvements around different use cases. In the first step, we are focusing on the music use case that we heavily test for: Apple MusicSpotifyTidalApple Music. Here are a few other services that we’re not actively testing but that you can also explore: Netflix, Apple Shortcuts, IFTTT, Home Assistant, Pandora, Youtube, Chrome, Safari, Firefox etc.
No. NFC background reading is a basic phone feature on iPhone Xs, Xs Max, Xr, 11, 11 Pro and NFC enabled Android devices. You will, however, need to have the app installed that you are linking to (such as Spotify). This also means that you can share a block with friends - or a fan if you’re an artist - and they can use it right away. You will need an NFC writer app if you want to change the content that is saved on the block. We offer a free app for iOS and recommend Trigger for Android but you can also choose a different NFC writer app. Senic’s own Android App is coming in a few weeks.
Changing content on a muse block is very simple and you can do it as often as you like. You can find detailed instructions here.
1. Download one of our recommended NFC Writer Apps.
2. Copy the link to your favorite playlist or content
3. Paste it into the NFC Writer app and save it to a block

Yes, you won’t damage the functionality of the Block if you drop it from normal heights below 10 feet. Depending on the surface of the impact area, you might damage the outer shell of the block or the print.

Muse Blocks contain an NFC chip which allows you to store shortcuts to your favorite digital content like a music playlist, movie or smart home scene. Using the NFC sensor inside of your phone, you can jump straight to your favorite playlist without needing to search for the app, open it and search for it in lists.
Inside of each Muse Block is a tiny computer chip that can store information. Using NFC (Near Field Communication) this chip gets powered on when you bring an NFC enabled phone close to it; this means that the chip does not require any batteries and you never have to charge them. Once you’re in close range (within 2cm), you can now either write information to the chip (like the link to a website or a link to playlist) or read information that is stored on a chip. By reading the link to your favourite playlist, your phone then jumps straight to this playlist inside of your favourite music app.
Once the blocks arrive, they all contain a link to a simple instruction page on how you can reconfigure the block to save your favourite music or other digital content on it.
Simply hold your phone to one of the blocks using NFC and jump straight to your favourite music, movies or or smart home scene; all without scrolling through endless apps and wasting time being stuck to the screen.
iPhone Xs, Xs Max, Xr, 11, 11 Pro have a feature called “NFC Background” Reading. This means that you don’t need to open an app and your phone will scan the blocks automatically when you hold the top of your phone close to it. iPhone 7, 7 Plus, 8, 8 Plus and X also have an NFC sensor but do not offer the ‘NFC Background’ reading feature. Unfortunately this means that you would need to download a separate NFC reader app which you need to open first to scan an NFC block. iPhone 6s and older do not offer NFC capability.
Many Android Devices already offer NFC functionality. All of these phones offer background NFC reading. To see if your phone is NFC enabled, you can check your settings or check out this wiki page which is updated constantly.
